  • Absolutely not! You just need to show up with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and ready to push yourself ! There will be moments that you are uncomfortable but that is all part of the journey! This retreat is tailored as an introduction to everything outdoors but anyone up for an adventure will have fun! Not many people have experienced a trip by canoe. This is the place to ask questions, learn and just have a blast!

  • Honestly, your mindset is the biggest factor. If you go into this knowing that some aspects will be challenging and have a great attitude, you will do great! You should be comfortable paddling for several hours at a time at a leisurely pace on flat water. You can also expect to pull and maneuver your canoe through shallow, boulder filled rivers and over beaver dams at times. Portaging and pulling a canoe through shallow waters is a hard thing to train for and requires you to use your entire body and muscles that you don't often use. You will also be required to carry a canoe either solo or with your canoeing partner over uneven ground during the portage. Everything will be at a beginner pace so if you show up determined and ready for adventure, it’ll be great! You certainly don't have to be the most fit person to succeed! That being said, there will be times that you are challenged and the weather may not cooperate. If you show up for the experience, no matter what nature throws at us, you will have the time of your life! And we will all work as a team to get there!
